Besides obvious RNG, make sure every run you are getting Platinum Rewards (shows in the kill/info feed at the bottom left after the first one). Missing or despawning even one champion can cause you to drop from Platinum to Gold rewards on many of the lost sectors. This has drastic affects on your drop rates for exotics.Obviously, this is just the testing of one person, over a limited sample size, so it wont be perfectly accurate.
